Marathon du Médoc in Pauillac/Bordeaux,
France
September 10, 2005
A few personal
experiences by Cindy Peterson
The race was a
hoot!! Everyone was in costume and moi aussi (me too.)
I WON FIRST PRIZE FOR BEST COSTUME!!!
Marathon Tours
awarded me first prize for best costume within our group of 100 runners.
My Costume was
"MADEMOISELLE FOLIES BERGERE". What fun I had throughout the race.

My headpiece was
two and a half feet high; the costume was pink and black satin and black
lace,
black mesh stockings and a bow and
boa in the rear. I painted my sneakers black, glued black satin
material with swarowsky crystals all over the front and sides of the
sneakers. You could see me
coming and going.
There were many
groups of men that were dressed the same as though they were a team.
A group of 10 men
approached me dressed in top hats, tight pants, and a cane, picked me up
under
my arms and chanted my name for about
an eight of a mile. They would then say au revoir until the
next mile, party at the wine stop
and do the same all over again.
I got into the
whole scene too by asking" voulez vous couchez avec moi". It was a
blast.
They waited for
me at the finish line and carried me to where I picked up my wine and travel
bag.
I had so much fun
that I will do this one again with my brother, and next time I will
participate in
the wine stops.
The wine tours
were exceptional and so was the wine. I sent home two cases along with what I
brought in my carry on and back
pack.
Made some
wonderful new friends, enjoyed time with Linda, Laurie and the three New
Yorkers.
